Hello!
Brooke Taylor is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Dance Department and is now a Brooklyn based artist. Her credits include Tyler Perry’s A Jazzman’s Blues and Boop! The Musical. However, she’s most proud of writing, directing, and producing her own one woman show, Turning Pages. With a new love of theatre, she hopes to continue finding ways to dismantle the phrase “dancer who sings” into "all encompassing artist" for her internal self.

My Story
I have been dancing since I was three years old and over the years I have trained in the styles of ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip hop, and more. In my senior year of high school, I was elected President of the African American Awareness Club, which catapulted my new found love of social justice and its intersection into the arts.
My passion of artistry and activism continued to grow during my years at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have organized assemblies, protests, fundraisers, and even produced concerts. I am most proud of the artistic protest "Drive In For Justice" (2020) and "An Evening for Sarah" (2023), which was a concert for Sarah Collins Rudolph, the survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. At the University of Michigan, I have created work centering black voices, including choreographing the musical Once On This Island and many solo and group works dedicated to black and brown lives lost due to racial injustice and police brutality. Lastly, I founded the organization Black Scholars in Dance to build a network of black dancers at the University of Michigan.

Outside of activism and along my collegiate journey, I found a love for musical theatre and was unexpectedly bitten by the bug in 2022. I had my first musical debut as Ali in MAMMA MIA! at the Encore Musical Theatre Company in Dexter, Michigan. After that experience, I was determined to put my all into Musical Theatre Performance. Shortly after, I was accepted into The LINK program, a winter theatre intensive for gifted college students. I would then sign with CESD Agency and gear up for a new life in New York. To some this means packing bags, but to me it meant writing, directing, and performing in a one woman show to raise money for my move. In August of 2023, I performed in "Turning Pages", a one woman show, about my life's achievements, rejections, and everything in between.

Currently, I am one of the youngest candidates for Dunham Certification through the Institute of Dunham Technique Certification and I am also in the process of becoming a certified Pilates Mat and Reformer Instructor.

In August of 2023, I felt so honored to have been offered my first Pre Broadway contract in the world premiere of Boop! The Musical running in Chicago, Illinois.
